did an "Intense Workout" from 6-9 on the Friday before the tournament. Only Red belts and Black belts were allowed to do the work out. For three hours GM Pak had us doing kicks, jumping kicks, punches, forms, sparring combinations, jumping jacks, stretches and TONS of pushups (regular, knuckles, wrists, fingertips, dimond and korean pushups). About twelve people came and the next day for the tournament all those twelve Martial Artists were sore. :) But we sucked it up and did our best in competition.<br />At the beginning of the Tournament GM Pak had us line up and we stretched, did a warm up routine before starting the competition. GM Pak taught us a new form that he created. Then wished us luck and the Tournament began.<br /> I was more excited then nervous. This was my chance to do my best in front of a Grand Master. I was able to talk to GM Pak for about half an hour, telling him about wanting to start my own Studio when I get my Black Belt. I found him very easy to talk to and I hope that he will be able to attend our next tournament Oct. 17th 2009. In 1977 He became Jr. Black belt at the age of 13 in South Korea. '77-'79 Grand Master Pak served in the Korean army. 1982 he was chosen as a member of the Korean Olympic Tang Soo Do team and contributed to their victory in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was in many movies and was awarded as "Best Instructor and performer in Martial Arts". He now resides in Canoga Park, Ca.<br /><br /><br />My Instructor, Mr. Lewis, has asked Grand Master Ho Sik Pak to join us for our Tang Soo Do tournament on Oct. 11th. Ho Sik Pak not only agreed but has decided to do a workshop for all of us red belts on Friday Oct 10th. He will also be doing a demonstration (board breaking, forms, fighting, ect) at the tournament. He was a crew chief of a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">MH</span>-47 <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">Shinook</span> Helicopter in the Spec Ops. On June 1st, 2006 in <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">Doe Run</span> Georgia, his helicopter hit a television tower and crashed. Only the pilot survived. The thing I liked best was that they honored the Military personnel. I am a hard core Patriot and I am honored to live in a country that is free. At the beginning of the Rodeo they turned out the lights in the Idaho Center. Toby Keith's song "American Soldier" played and a spot light went to a soldier in the arena. He walked over to his parents gave them each a hug and as he walked away he turned and waved goodbye. He then knelt down in prayer as Toby Keiths voice rang out loud and clear. Every person watching stood and started cheering. Tears started to come as the soldier raised his hands to the sky as Toby Keith sang of a soldiers sacrifice to his country. As the song started to end the soldier stood and saluted as a huge American flag was hanging from the rafters. Thank you to all the soldiers who are, have and will serve our country so that we can remain free.
